Income Report: How I Quadrupled My Blog Traffic

Today I am sharing my income report based on my second-month blogging.

I’m still not sure if I will continue these, but I’ve had a few new bloggers reach out to me based on my first income report (I made $0) and I feel if I’ve helped just one person then it is worth putting it out there.

For me, this month blogging has been a bit stressful.  Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy it and am seeing results from my hard work, however, there are so many things I want to learn, write, and figure out how to do that I am stressing myself out trying to do it all at once.  I’ve spent a bazillion hours with little return at this point but I’m still keeping the faith.

August Income Report Recap

I started this blog Mid July and counted August as my first-month blogging.

It received just over 500 visits to my site and made $0.

I put a lot of my focus on Pinterest and content writing in August and tried to carry that over into September.

At the end of August, I had 22 blog posts, 900 Pinterest followers 68k monthly Pinterest viewers.

September Income Report

Share-A-Sale: $0

Ultimate Bundles: $0

Site Ground: $0

Amazon: $68.

(Alright here is my backstory with Amazon.  Not all of this is from The Complex Mom.   My old blog started on Blogspot.  I have one Pin that has somehow maintained its position and gets consistent views and clicks on my Amazon links.  I have been making money off of that post for over two years.   However this month I have had clicks and purchases on Amazon through The Complex Mom but I have no idea how to differentiate the two.  So that is my total between both blogs.

PicMonkey– $7.99

KeySearch- $13.60

Tailwind– $9.99

SEO Course- $10

September Traffic Report

Alright, now we are getting to the good stuff.  I worked my butt off on this.

As of the end of September, I received 2,275 page views!

I did have one pin gain traction on Pinterest for a few days, but overall I’ve consistently got around 50 visitors, sometimes more, sometimes less.   I have faith that this number will continue to grow in October!

So what did I do to quadruple my blog traffic?

  • I implemented a manual Pinning method along with a Tailwind strategy.
  • I joined three Facebook groups and am active in each of them daily.
  • I have written a few guest posts getting backlinks to my site and my content in front of a new audience.
  • Continued to create new content.
    • I’m up to 35 published posts and have many drafts I need to finish!
  • Extend my social media reach.  This month I created a Facebook, and Twitter account.
    • These are a work in progress but am slowly figuring them out.
    • Current Followers: Pinterest– 1,151. Facebook-0  Twitter– 34. (feel free to click and follow!)

So there you go!  I realize 2000 views and just about breaking even is hardly considered a success story, but it’s motivation that progress is being made.

Just last month I was getting just 4 views a day.  If that is where you’re at that’s ok!

Please keep at it.

If I can do this you can too!

Try adding a new strategy to the mix this month and see what happens.

Do your best to not spread yourself too thin.  I am still getting the majority of my traffic from Pinterest so I will continue to spend the majority of my time there.  Find one thing you are great at and become an expert at it.

If you need help, have questions, or are just looking for someone to bounce your thoughts off of please reach out to me at!

I have made a few friends from my last income report that I love keeping in touch with.  It is so fun to share what you are learning with others and watch each other grow!
