I’m sharing some of my September favorites with you from my favorite month of the year! It’s still warm, but the nights are cool. The trees start thinking about changing colors and you can tell Fall is on its way. Everything becomes pumpkin flavored and rainy days are spent cuddled on the couch with your favorite book.
These are some of my families favorite things we’ve read, tasted, or tried this past month.
I signed up for Grove this month and received my first shipment. I got all of this for only $24!! If you’re like me and you are fall obsessed and want to pick the pumpkin scents, don’t. Trust me. Go for the mums. They smell AMAZING!
Target has some amazing winter pajamas right now. They are perfect for snuggling up on the couch with a cup of tea and a movie! This Sleep T-shirt is my favorite! It is soo soft! And this pajama set comes with cozy socks!
Charcoal Face Mask
I ordered a charcoal face mask because my skin has been oily and prone to acne lately. I wanted to add a mask to my self-care routine. I love this stuff! My face feels so clean and soft after. Bonus points that it scared the bejeezus out of my kids!
Earlier this month I had read The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman, because it’s a story about a young widow with kids and I can totally relate to that. I loved it! So when I saw another Abbi Waxman book on my September Book Of The Month choices I had to get it.
Other People’s Houses is just as good, and the character from Garden of Small Beginnings is occasionally mentioned so I get to keep up with how she’s doing! It’s not a sequel to the book but I do recommend reading The Garden Of Small Beginnings first! Other People’s Houses is based on a neighborhood full of families and all of their drama and family struggles, it just so happens that one of the mothers is friends with Abbi Waxman’s first character.
It is such a unique thing to do! I was totally surprised when I realized what was happening with the characters between the two books! A bonus to the great storylines!
Last Kid On Earth Series
This is my nine-year-olds current series he is obsessed with. This summer was all Harry Potter and now we are onto the Last Kid On Earth series by Max Brallier.
It’s based on a group of kids surviving together after the monster apocalypse. There is a lot of monster fighting and gross boy humor to keep them entertained. It seems to be a pretty popular read with his group of friends!
Farming Board Books
My two-year-old is my little Farmer Brown. He is obsessed with all things farming. From tractors to farm animals, to diggers. He spends hours flipping through these picture books learning all of their names. His favorites include; My First Tractor, First Farm Words, and My First Trucks And Diggers!
These are my favorite fall drink! I am not a big coffee drinker so I keep these stocked up for myself and hot chocolates for the kids. Our Keurig gets so much use in the fall and winter with these Hot Apple Cider Kcups
This has been one of our go-to meals. I make it stupid simple. I throw a few chicken breasts with cut up onions and enchilada sauce in the crockpot for four hours on high. I then shred it up and add some queso. The kids can then decide if they want to eat it on a tortilla or my favorite, on top of some nachos. It is so simple and the leftovers are just as good the next day!
Betty Crocker Mug Treats
If you haven’t tried these you need to! These Mug Treats are so simple and quick to make. I love popping one of these in the microwave and sneaking a treat after I put the kids to bed. There are so many different flavors to try and I have yet to come across one I didn’t like!
September marks the last warm days of the year. We made sure to make the most of our weekends by spending as much time at the lake as possible. No screens allowed! The kids swim, splash, and dig in the sand, while the neighbors catch up and enjoy a cold drink.
With warm days and cooler nights, it’s the perfect weather for a bonfire. We got together with another family and spent the evening on their farm. The kids rode horses, played football, cooked hot dogs over the fire and of course roasted marshmallows. Everyone had such a great time!
5K Color Run
This was a completely new activity for us! My oldest joined running club at school to train for their annual 5K color run. I crazily agreed to run it with him. It just so happened one of our friends were attempting it too. The boys ran ahead and us moms took our time running down the hills and walking up them! Somehow we all ended up finishing the run together completely covered in paint! We then went and filled up on pancakes while our server gave us some crazy looks. It is for sure something we will do again next year!
Well, there you have my family’s September favorites! I’d love to hear what things your family has enjoyed this past month!
